So I'm finally caught up on last weekend, now here is what I did this weekend!

I had a ticket to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels last night at the Fair Park Theatre.  As this was the play attatched to the State Fair of Texas my sister and I spent the whole day at the fair.  As we were leaving last night I realized we had been there for 12 hours straight!

It was really funny.  On Tuesday my sister and I got onto the website for the fair and saw what all the events were going to be.  We spent at least an hour maticulously planning out everything we wanted to see.  But as soon as we got to the fair it was "ooohh MIDWAY!" and all of our plans went out the window!  I think I saw only one thing I had planned and that was the Dodge Championship bull riding.  (All those good looking cowboys riding bulls...yum!)

I really enjoyed the play Dirty Rotten Scoundrels last night.  But I have to say I was a little dissapointed.  I was really excited to find out that Norbert Leo Butz who won a Tony for originating the role of Freddy in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels was actually going to do the part here in Dallas.  It wasn't until I got there that I found out that he had left the show a week before.  It makes me sad because I really wasn't interested in the show until I saw Norbert perform "Great Big Stuff" at the Tony's last year.  The guy who did it was really good but it just didn't feel right to me.

This afternoon I went to a performance of  a different kind.  My church hosted a piano recital for Van Clibern semi-finalist Gabriella Martinez.  If you aren't familiar with the Van Clibern competition, it is a world renowned competition for concert pianists.  Those that even compete are invited to perform in symphonies all over the world.  It was a great honor to have Gabriella play at our church.  She was truely magnificent.

On Saturday Oct 14 we went to see the play Joseph and the Amazing Tedchnicolor Dreamcoat performed at Theatre Arlington.  This was a fun performance and my mom kept leaning over to me and saying "you could have been in this."   I think she was right but it's been so long since I've done any real theatre that it's hard to take that first step back into the acting world.

The play brought back a lot of fun memories as I did this when I was in highschool.  The role of the narrator had been split into three people and I was one of the narrators.

So, when I got home from the play the first thing I did was put in the video of my highschool production.  I have to admit that it was really bad!  But, I was still sentimental about it which led me to looking up an old friend I haven't seen since highschool.  It was really cool to find her in just one click!

Wow!  These last couple of weekends have been really packed full with loads of fun stuff!  Of course I have also been suffering through a horrible cough this last week and I've gotten behind on posting my adventures.  But here's to catching up!

On Friday Oct 13 I had the amazing opportunity to go see Manhattan Transfer in concert at the Bass Performance Hall.  This was so amazing!  Ever since I discovered this group when I was in highschool I've always wanted to sing in a group like this.  Of course the closest I've come to it was singing a couple of songs in a USO show at my church.  Anyway I've always loved singing with their cds and I never thought I would be able to hear them live.

They have been together as a group for 34 years and they are still amazing.

If you are interested in knowing more about Manhattan Transfer here is a link to their website:  http://www.manhattantransfer.org/  Click on Enter and you can hear a sample of their singing.
