So, I'm sure most of you have heard about what happened to FedConUSA this weekend, and you are probably sick of it.  But, if you are interested in hearing my personal account here it is under the cut.

I'm really looking forward to Shore Leave now!

Oh, and btw, when we were leaving one of the hotel workers asked us "How are you ladies doing today?"........

I was so going to write this last night, but I fell asleep while I was staring at the computer.  :)

Everyone completely ate up the guests on stage and with good reason, the guests had incredible energy and seemed determined to show everyone a good time.  I was surprised by one thing, this was the first time I've ever been to a con where the fans weren't begging for hints of things coming up.  In fact at one point David Hewlett excitedly mentioned Amanda Tapping's upcoming appearance on Atlantis and was shocked to hear the audience react negatively.  It was an interesting vibe.  I believe that the fans are in shock over all of the casting spoilers that have come out and are still hurting over the loss of Carson.  I think because of this everyone is kind of in a holding pattern just waiting for the start of season 4 instead of chomping at the bit wanting to know all of the little details.

By the way, did I mention that David Hewlett was damn hot?  I know I said he was like the older brother, well he was like the older brother of your best friend and you just waited with baited breath to see if he was going to notice you.  He was incredibly sexy and he just exuded poise, confidence, and a great sense of who he was.  With the others it felt like they were performing for you, with David it felt like he was welcoming you into a conversation.  All of this combined made hime the most desirable guest up there.  :)

Hi everyone, I've made it back in one piece, and I think I just slept for 12 hours. :)  I am also really sore.  Thanks [info]tiggerificsga for making me do all those con dances. :)

I had a great time at the con despite there being some ups and downs. The guest were wonderful and I loved all the people I met, so I'm able to put most of my issues with my hotel, the airplane, and the con aside.  Although, I will say this.  Wolf, please put your photo tickets on sale online.  I'm still bitter about the David/David pictures being sold "right after David Hewlett's appearance on stage".  What that meant was I left his talk 10 minutes before it was over went outside and found a line that wrapped around two corners of the building.  The lotto tickets for the David/David pictures ended long before it got to me.  In order to get a ticket I would have had to miss all of his talk and that is the only reason I came to London all the way from Texas.  I paid a lot of mony for this trip to have Wolf treat the fans like that.  The only saving factor in the whole thing was when I was in line to pay for my David picture I was voicing my opinion on the whole thing and another fan in the line took pity on me and gave me her David/David lotto ticket.  If you by chance happen to read this blog, thank you again so much.

Instead of giving a blow by blow account I'll just give my impressions of the guests.

Dan Payne, Ryan Robbins, and Aaron Douglas
Yes, I'm putting them in a group together.  These men are crazy insane!  They have energy coming out of their ears.  They had the whole con just rolling on the floor whenever they came on stage.  I had seen Dan and Aaron last year so I knew what to expect from them this year.  I had never seen Ryan so I was surprised to see how good looking he really is. ;)  They were a lot of fun, but they were the best when they were all together playing off of each other.  The only thing that kept me from completely loving them were the political jokes.  I didn't appreciate them very much.

Erin Chambers
I have to admit I wasn't really excited about seeing her, but I was really charmed by her.  I grew up doing musicals and she revealed that she is a musical theatre actress.  We had a nice little chat about theatre when I was getting her autograph.  I enjoyed talking to her.

Chuck Campbell
I could have included him with the three above, but I wanted to give him his own heading.  Like Aaron Douglas he was a surprise guest, unlike Aaron he really was a surprise.  He is just as crazy as the others and I loved him for it.  When I got his autograph I told him how jealous everyone was going to be that he was there, he didn't believe me. :)  He was a con virgin, but I really don't think this is going to be his last con.

David Nykl
About a week ago David announced that he was coming to the con.  I was so excited to see him and I wasn't dissapointed.  He is also very hyper on stage.  He was very fun to watch and when he and David were doing the pictures you could see that they are good friends.

Kate Hewlett
What can I say?  She's pretty, she's nice, and she has many years of insight with David.  I get the feeling that she thinks she is just there because she's David's sister.  She may be right, but she has a winning personality all on her own.

David and Kate Hewlett
I'm giving them a separate heading along with a combined heading.  Watching these two together makes me think of Christmas with my Dad's family.  They are very fond of each other, but there is that eternal snark with each other.  I love that about family.

David Hewlett
This poor man had a great appearance while he was suffering from food poisoning and you couldn't even really tell that he was sick.  I read a report that said you could tell he was a "star" but I might have to disagree with that person.  Yes, he was a lot more subdued than the others, but he was just as warm and approachable.  I was trying to pinpoint what it was about him that I was seeing and it finally hit me that he was like the older brother.  Like everyone else he had a great sense of humor, but he was a bit more mature than the others.  I found it just as easy to talk to him as it was to talk to any of the others.  By the way, he still drives his Toyota Echo.  I felt I had to establish that as I too drive a Toyota Echo. :)

I had one of the last tickets for autographs so I waited for almost 5 hours to get the autographs.  I was really impressed that the stars seemed just as friendly and open and willing to talk at 9:30 as they probably were when they started signing at 4:30.

I'm finding that as I plan to go to P2 I am becoming less and less interested in reading fan fiction for Atlantis.  It was the same thing when I went to the Creation convention in Vancouver last year.  It's almost as if  now that I'm meeting the real person, I'm not interested in reading stories that put their characters in weird situations.

Am I weird?

This is so cool!  I'm going to get to see David Hewlett up close and personal and get to see his movie!

I've purchased an event ticket, reserved a hotel room, and all I have left is the airplane.

Squeeee!!!!

Per request of [info]eviljr  I took some pictures of the centerpiece my sister and I put together for the Vancouver convention in March.  I came up with the idea and my sister did most of the painting.   Unfortunately it didn't quite make it home back in one piece, but it looked really good for the contest.

Ok, there was a lot going on in Vancouver, I think it will take two more posts to cover everything.  Unfortunately I can't share my pictures of the sets due to an agreement I signed.  But I can tell you that we walked through the village set used in the episode Irresistable.  I have to say that the detail was amazing, I loved everything they had on the set. :)

I finally was able to get to my pictures stored on my computer so I thought I'd share some of my trip to Vancouver for the Stargate convention.

I'm afraid that a lot of the convention pictures are really fuzzy.  I couldn't quite figure out the best way to take a good picture at the convention itself.  But if you're interested in seeing the pics take a look behind the cut.

I have so many pictures I want to share that I'll do it in two posts.

I have this patron at the library who I've totally conected over shared tv shows and such.  When I went to the Stargate convention in Vancouver I made sure I got her an autograph of one of her favorites, Beu Bridges.

Well, anyway on Tuesday she came in and the first thing she said to me was that it was my fault!!  She then told me that in the fall she is going to go to an NCIS convention.  She told me I inspired her! :)
