Why, that would be a new book list!  I am setting my goal to finish these by Christmas.  There are a lot of titles here, but I hope to read them even if my deadline has passed.

So, Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I just got home from getting my voucher for Harry Potter tonight.  So, my burning question is, how did I do on my book list

Book Club
The World to Come by Dara Horn

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See
The Bounty: The True Story of Mutiny on the Bounty by Caroline Alexander  Found myself not having the time to read this. - Good thing we showed the movie in book club.
Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl  This book was almost too pretentious for my tastes.  Once you are over half way through the 514 page book, the story finally gets interesting.

Keys to the Kingdom Series
Sir Thursday by Garth Nix
Lady Friday by Garth Nix  This time it only took me a couple of days.  Now I have to wait for the next book to be written.

Young Wizards Series  The author has requested that I wait to read these until after Harry Potter
The Wizard's Dilemma by Diane Duane
A Wizard Alone by Diane Duane

The Dresden Files (Harry Dresden)
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
Grave Peril by Jim Butcher

Incarnations of Reality  To replace Young Wizards
Bearing an Hourglass by Piers Anthony There were only about 100 pages that were interesting in this book.  I only finished it because I want to read the whole series.  If the next book isn't any good, I won't read any more in the series.
With a Tangled Skein by Piers Anthony

So, not bad.  I made a goal of 12 books and completed 8 of them.  I'm still not back to the amount of reading I used to do, but I feel I've greatly improved this year.

Note:  As expected, It's taken me a lot longer to get through my personal books than the books in the book club.  I get too distracted by good (and bad) fan fiction out there, and real life.

On another subjuct, the book club books have been really good this year.  They are a must read for me because I'm the one who leads the discussion, but I don't always like the books we read.  This year, though, has been great.  I highly recommend any of these books.

Book Club
The World to Come by Dara Horn

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini  Much better than I thought it would be, wasn't looking forward to angst.
The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester  Interesting, I would have preferred a documentary.
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See  Very fascinating book!
The Bounty: The True Story of Mutiny on the Bounty by Caroline Alexander
Special Topics in Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl

Keys to the Kingdom Series
Sir Thursday by Garth Nix  Took me too long to read the book, I kept getting distracted.  But, a fun series.
Lady Friday by Garth Nix

Young Wizards Series  The author has requested that I wait to read these until after Harry Potter
The Wizard's Dilemma by Diane Duane
A Wizard Alone by Diane Duane

The Dresden Files (Harry Dresden)
Fool Moon by Jim Butcher
Grave Peril by Jim Butcher

Incarnations of Reality  To replace Young Wizards
Bearing an Hourglass by Piers Anthony

Last night was book club night again.  The book we discussed was Life of Pi by Yann Martel.

I have to say that when I first looked at the book I wasn't sure what to expect.  After all what kind of book deals with a boy and a tiger in a life raft together?  But, once I read it I was totally blown away with the depth of the novel.

I found this interesting.  The copywrite page includes a list of subject headings for the book.  The subjects in Life of Pi is quite extensive.  Here is what it said.

On to my thoughts.

I highly recomend this book!
