Anyone going to Shore Leave?

Well, I'm excited to say that after [info]nakedwesley talked me into it, it looks like I am going to go to Shore Leave!

It looks like I am going to be dragging into Baltimore at 12:30 am Friday (it's still in negotiations at work), but I would love to get together with my friends on the list over the weekend.  Maybe we can do lunch on Saturday or something.  Anyone interested?

*raises hand* I shall be there.
Yay! I get to meet you in person!

Maybe we can arrange a way to meet when it gets closer to the con.
absolutely. I always like to meet flisters! ;)
Hurray!

I hope you work out the details w/work. Funny how they like you to actually be there, y'know, to do work. *g*

I'll have my car there, as I only live 45 minutes away from the con.
Yeah, can you imagine? Actually Shore Leave decided to hold their con the same weekend we are having one of our special programs at the library. So, I agreed to be there at 3 pm for the program with the idea that we might actually get some help so I won't have to be. So, if I do have to, I won't be able to catch a flight until 8:30 pm.

Anyways, it's going to be great to see you again! I'm going to be there from Friday night to Tuesday afternoon so I'm getting a hotel designed for sight seeing not just for the con which means I'm going to be about 30 minutes away. I'll be renting a car to get to and from.

I'd love to hang out with you at the con this time. Maybe we can arrange something. :)
Cool! Yes, we'll have to figure out a time to meet up. And you can always hang with us at the hotel between con stuff.
The squirrels have planned many activities for the weekend, so it shall be wonderful fun. Glad you decided to come :)
I'd love to meet you in person. You are one of my new friends, but I can't wait to put a face to your name. Hopefully we'll be able to arrange something when it gets closer. :)
There are SO many people I know coming to Shoreleave (I lost count after 30). To make it easier, I'm probably just gonna post my cellphone number on my LJ before con and people can just track me down. I'm not that hard to find because you could spot me in a crowd ;) especially if I wear my cuffs like I usually do. "Oh, yeah, it's that girl with the handcuffs on, yeah!" I haven't gotten my Atlantis BDUs put together yet, but that's the plan before Shoreleave. So, yes, I'm sure we'll definitely get together at some point during con.
Cool! I'll look for the cuffs. Maybe we can get a chance to talk for a few minutes. :)
Me, me, me...I'll go to lunch...j/k I actually hopped on to tell you what I watched last night--a preview of Life on Mars on my computer! (I am probably not supposed to tell or something, but I had to tell you, because you told me about the original version and it was so funny that at a certain point I knew what it was from your description.) Anywho, it was actually pretty good, although a lot more serious than I would have expected, and also I didn't expect that he was going to tell everyone his story. I liked the whole ambiguity of whether he was really there or it was all in his head. The female lead is played very well, and Sam is played by a favorite actor of mine who can't seem to get a break...maybe this is it? I just don't know how the general public will feel about watching a show set in the seventies. The fashion and the cars were great. Oh, and I got the episode as part of one of the survey groups I belong to online--but I had never gotten anything like that before. I wonder if they are thinking about it as a summer show?
You scared me there for just a second. You...in Baltimore?

Which version of Life on Mars was the commercial for? The UK version or the upcoming US version? If it's the US version I have got to see it! I can't remember who is playing Sam, but I heard that Colm Meany is Gene Hunt, one of my favorite actors playing my favorite character!

I personally loved the 70s setting. It really works from the standpoint that Sam tries to police using today's methods in the rough, beat-em-up methods of the 70s. But, besides that, the music, fashion, and cars are really awesome!
It was the actually the whole pilot for the American version--45 minutes or so--the actor is Jason O'Mara--if you look it up on imdb, you can see all the details. And yes, Colm Meany is in it too. I read some reviews that thought the pilot script was too close to the British show. I think I would like it, so I hope they are going to pick it up.
*whispering* How did you get it? Can I get it? Is there a service you have that lets you watch pilots? Can I be on it too?
the survey was through erewards, but that was the first one like that I had gotten, and I have been a member several years. I have gotten 45 free movie rentals and 4 years of free magazine subscriptions through them though. Check out: www.e-rewards.com

That is so cool! I hope you responded positively to the show.
yes, I did say that I like the show, and that I would watch it, etc. So now it had better come on--I think it supposed to be ABC
